Data Plates

Extremely durable with a great look, our metal data plates are perfect long-life solution for displaying critical information in the toughest conditions

Extremely durable with a great look, our metal data plates are the perfect long-life solution for displaying critical information in the most challenging conditions.

Metal data plates are everywhere. Some of the places you will find or can use them include:

  • Certification and compliance plates
  • Machine or vehicle rating plates
  • Plates that display product safety information
  • Permanent labelling, ID badges, barcodes, and asset tags
  • Machine nameplates and vehicle certification plates
  • Company brand signage and control panels

Data Plate Printing Options

There are two broad printing options.  The first uses a solvent ink system to print directly on the surface of the plate.  The second uses special metal-bonding ink to etch the image into the plate’s sub-surface.

Surface printing allows the widest colour range and widest material options; the two most common materials are aluminium and stainless steel. Surface printing is perfect for the most complex of designs, especially those with several colours. The result is a tough, hard-wearing surface that is highly scratch-resistant and won’t fade in the sun.

Sub-surface printing inks are only used with aluminium. By first anodising the base metal, we increase the protective oxide layer on the aluminium’s surface. We print your design on the oxide layer immediately after anodising, ensuring the image penetrates the surface and stays locked in after the aluminium has been sealed. It’s less flexible regarding the number of colours available, and mixed colours are much more difficult to apply. It’s the best option for ultra-long service, and the finish is exceptionally resistant and impervious to chipping, scratching, or fading.

Data Plates to Suit Your Needs

With our team’s extensive graphic design experience and access to top technology, we can print on one or both sides of your plates and complete complex designs. We can laser cut the plates to virtually any shape. We produce data plates in various thicknesses and with several combinations of finishing options. The finish options we provide include:

  • Corner finish
  • Hole punching
  • Adhesive backing
  • Laser etching (ideal for serial numbers, barcodes, model numbers, ratings, weights, manufacturing dates, and other variable data)

We offer the common gauges of 0.45mm, 0.7mm, and 0.9mm for our data plates, but other gauges are available upon request. Our cornering is available in 3mm (R3), 6mm (R6), or 10mm radius (R10). Punched holes are available in 2.50 – 10.0mm diameters in 0.5mm increments.
