An electronic membrane keypad or membrane switch is a flat, flexible pressure pad that acts as the user interface and provides electrical connectivity for operating equipment.  Our keypads are ideal for appliance keypads such as photocopiers, microwaves, and EFTPOS terminals. They are also perfect for machine controllers, petrol pump keypads, and control interfaces for complex industrial equipment.

Our Keypads Provide Simplicity, Speed, and Flexibility

Delivered as a single complete self-contained unit, our keypads comprise several layers, including the electronic circuitry and control panel graphic overlay. Constructed with integrated tactile domes and switch elements, membrane keypads eliminate the need for surface-mounted switches or shims on your PCB.  This simplifies your internal packaging, reduces parts count, and eliminates difficult tolerance stack control during assembly.

We screen print electronic circuits onto a thin polyester film using conductive ink and cure them using precise environmental settings. The circuits are suitable for DC applications up to 24V and current up to 30mA. An industry standard 2.54mm pitch pin socket that connects to a corresponding header on your PC board easily connects the keypad with the interface. The keypad socket, set on a flexible tail that allows routing to the header, ensures you don’t need additional flying leads or wires. We work with your electronics designer to ensure the correct pin-out of the keypad.

Membrane keypads simplify and speed up the final assembly of your products. Remove the adhesive protector on the back, attach the membrane keypad to your equipment and connect the tail to a header on your PCB.  Once in place, membrane keypads are easy to wipe clean due to their low-profile flat surface, making them ideal for use in products that require regular surface cleaning.

Our Quality Assurance

We manufacture membrane keypads from the highest quality base materials from industry leaders 3M and Autotype, making them perfect for external and internal use. They can withstand harsh outdoor environments and exposure to chemicals or UV rays.  Thanks to their durable materials, they are an excellent choice for the dirtiest environments, for example dairy sheds.  Daily cleaning will not damage them and helps maintain their high-quality appearance.

We have tested our keypads in accelerated life tests and recorded millions of button activations with no measurable loss of function or cracking of the button element.
